Homeland, another step closer to reality

We had the Paris attack a few days ago with more then a hundred persons killed in the street from a coordinated terrorist attack. As it looks the whole thing was orchestrated from a radical Islamist cell of Belgium, the European terrorist hot-spot with participants from Syria entering France hiding in the floods of Middle East refugees. IS/Daesh involved, does it matter? That Europe had radical Islamist cells engaged in plotting terrorist acts were by the general public known long before the formation of the IS, ISIL/Daesh and seemingly found in every European nation, even my country, the small peaceful nation way up north.

In Homeland this particular episode we find the injured, close to dying CIA assassin Peter Quinn being picked up on the street by a Muslim doctor carrying him to his home saving him from dying from his severe gun-shot injury. The house where the doctor lives is not only his home but a also the home of a German terrorist and his doubtful friends. The Muslim doctor has to fight the others in the house to keep his doctor's oath and patient alive, succeeds but the die-hard Islamist radical just released from prison, dies when he attacks Peter.

Keeping watching the Homeland series and being a European is like living a parallel life, one fictitious the other real, the events unfolding in Europe comes perfectly mimicked by Homeland but with Homeland being one step ahead of the real ones as if the real world mimics the television series. The Syrian general Yoseff's plane that disintegrates in the air from a purported Russian bomb, the Russian plane that disintegrates in the air from a purported IS bomb, A German would-be Islamist terrorist cell plotting to kill many Europeans at the streets and on their home turf, A Belgian terrorist cell that plots and kill's numerous innocent people on the streets in Paris. Feels like I don't need my real world anymore even though I have to live it day by day instead of 1 hour, once a week.

I'll keep watching with utmost presence looking for clues of what is going to happen next in my world of reality. Yes, what is going to happen? I don't know I have not come that far with Homeland yet and nobody could know for sure as this particular situation just started to develop. France is going for vengeance and scaled up bombardments over IS targets, more French air-power is on the way on the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier possibly loaded with cruise missiles also. Are we seeing a vendetta war firing up as more gasoline is poured into this fire and considering that there may be plenty of terrorist sleeper cells waiting for orders to activate on orders?

We got the cold war back with a huge Russian budget invested to modernize it's forces, it's navy and air-force on training missions far away from it's territories even touching US coastal borders and voiced up rhetoric's from it's leaders. China is threatening US reconnaissance missions even when on international waters and basically doing what Russia is doing both challenging the worlds strongest nation. At another angle it may look as the 2 adversaries, USA and Russia is coming together over Syria but it is also scary proposition, we have to ask ourselves, is there room for mistakes and errors?

Paris attacks, casting the blame and delusional thinking

Values Torture at Bagram Afghanistan

This is not the best time to say what I am going to say as some will crave empathy for the terrorist victims in Paris and nothing else accepted, but at the same time there will never be a better time. I am not defending this horrific act, in contrary condemning it but you have to remember the underlying causes. It is delusion to say that what happened is inhuman as history tells of as much of the inhuman (evil) as the human (good) nature in us humans. In near history just mentioning the Abu Graib Baghdad prison, the Bagram airbase in Afghanistan, the Guantanamo base prison - Cuba, the "extraordinary renditions" to clandestine prisons of torture, hundreds of thousands of families that lost family members, children everything they had, rape and executions performed by western nations and nationals with values. Those subjected to this will never forget, not their loved ones, nor will their children.

As usual after terrorist attacks or atrocities committed by military forces we go looking for someone to blame. In the Paris case - IS of course, an organization, or rogue wannabe state in conflict with great part of the western societies while the act committed was done by mere national individuals, a small group of friends with a common interest that met in Quran classes. We would like to have a mastermind behind, someone among our adversaries, someone on the outside singled out to make the planning, ordering and dispatching, a Hitler, a Qaddafi or a George W Bush so we could focus on the outside and retaliate and forget instead of looking inwards. A strategy always bound to fail creating repeats.

Being true to ourselves and societies it would be wiser to go looking for what is wrong on the inside of our own borders. We all know what is wrong and why young men and women becomes frustrated and disgruntled facing a situation of hopeless unemployment, racism and intolerance to religions not compatible with traditions. The ones committing terrorism are young people and the reason they attach or pledge allegiance to movements like Al Qaeda or IS is that they perceive hopes of another life, a new beginning in a fair society, with morals and ethics and where every soul counts, there is nothing sinister in their dreams and desires. When promises by government after government doesn't materialize they'll cross the line over to use radical methods and means to be heard. I do not believe for a moment that the ones that committed the terrorist acts in Paris were to be given a blank check for ISIS membership even though IS is trying to get fear leverage from the act. The planning and coordination of this attack, possibly through a request from IS in Syria seem to have been made by a radical Islamist cell in Belgium, Europe's hot-bed of radical Islam, executed by Belgian residential's and Syrian immigrants recently arrived.

Beyond the surface of our tranquil and empathetic western societies, mistrust, disdain and fear are simmering. The ones sitting on the money are doing everything to maximize profit of their businesses and industries, moving them out of social harms way reallocating them to "needy" countries that promises low wages, low or no taxes and protection against its people. Banks and businesses are setting up all kinds financial constructs allocating units with huge profits to tax paradises to evade taxes. Governments are offering all kinds of foreign business exempts of levies to establish themselves in their (western) countries and letting them treat employees to conditions and salaries in ways that were unthinkable of in earlier years, all according to methods developed by and in the USA In association with the Paris terrorist acts Obama spoke of an attack on "our Western" values, values that we had but since long is gone - democracy, free speech, security of employment, free medical care, free education to everybody, elderly care - what is this Mr. Obama talking about? Mr Obama is only saying things he is expected to say anything else would cause a republican or patriotic uproar and a subpoena. Are those values gone because of IS, is IS to be blamed for everything that have gone wrong in our societies? I guess this the easy way out, bombing ourselves out of our miseries or is it the only way to once again prosper, like after the disasters of the 2nd world war? I grew up 7 years after WW2 and I had a great life with a lot of freedom, opportunity and promise.

So anything threatening "our values" must be fought with military force, with more surveillance, more police, restricting freedom of speech, mobility even thought? Sounds to me like a proposition I decline to live.

There is no reason for me proposing what to do as long as we let our administrations and our politicians continue lying about our domestic internals, continuing to produce lies and unrealistic promises about domestic growth, employment and welfare.

The only thing I know that will lead to peace and prosperity is to let everybody in, to give everyone a place in society where they will feel included, equal and valuable.

I do not believe in policing and bombing us out of the situation we're in.

Paris, what is wrong with Swedish public television?

Yesterday, Friday the 13th the first reports in Swedish press started appearing around 11 p.m. well after the attacks seem to have started, 9:30 pm, It took another one and a half hours for the first extra inserted broadcast to appear in the Swedish SVT2 television channel and it seemed like the news crew had to scramble called in from their Friday nights at home or amusements. On the main channel SVT1 the Madonna MDMA concert was sent starting at 11 p.m. just continuing without any prompts announcing the developments in Paris. At SVT2, two persons finally appeared, a relatively unknown news anchor and more name-worthy reporter. The reporting was haphazard and the images from the scenes were from French television not commented nor translated. No Swedish foreign reporter, correspondent on site even if the Swedish television has a large budget for this and virtually at least one in every one of the worlds largest nations capitals, Swedish television even has a weekly soap called the "Correspondents" a phenomena that seem to have changed the foreign correspondents role from reporting into acting.

So what is going on? I have been living enough long to be used an almost instant and excellent reporting from the hot-spots of the world and with Swedish correspondents doing the reporting from the actual sites. I have learnt that Swedish public television still have a large budget and staff of foreign correspondents living abroad but I have also seen the reporting start to falter like yesterday. The reporting from Paris was more of a farce than a professionally executed news-cast from a disaster zone, with the news anchor calling acquaintances living in Paris asking them, "what do you feel right now" or "what do you see from your window" even though those persons were living away from the centers of events. Some terrorist experts were called asked stupid questions like, "do you see similarities with earlier terrorist attacks" while the situation in Paris still was ongoing with nobody, not even the police at the scene having a clue of what was coming down on Paris. When called confronted with questions like this, the Swedish terrorist expert, Magnus Norell, laughed back to say, I am not saying anything as we do not what is happening over there, several times.

This "similarities with other terrorist attacks" question came up several times with different terrorist experts, Mumbai and Madrid was mentioned but not 1 single time the recent terrorist attack in Oslo, orchestrated by the national Anders Behring Breivik. Is this a symptom of media treating this horrendous atrocity with silence as being politically correct? Considering Behring Breivik not as a terrorist but a mentally ill person or not wanting to give him credits for being the most infamous terrorists of modern times?

This with no Swedish foreign correspondent at the scene makes me wonder, what was that person doing? Having fun, eating out or...? Not even answering calls from the Swedish news-room?

I recently wrote an article on war-zone correspondents, "Homeland and 3 generations of war zone correspondents", trying to shed some light over why there is so little information coming out of zone's of conflict trying to show what "embedded" reporting has done to journalism. Well, the bigger capitals of the world cannot hardly bee seen as war zones not even with an escalated level of terrorism and neither be seen as affected by the "embedded" thing.

I am asking again, what is wrong with Swedish public television and where was the Swedish television's Paris correspondent yesterday?

Homeland - conspiring to change the world

I always try not get caught by the conspiracy theories as they tend to lead one away from living a life. Consider this line from the AA prayer: - God, give me grace to accept with serenity, the things that cannot be changed - What I am saying is that there are things beyond our control and powers but if we still decide to do it we will become frustrated, loosing time and energy that could be used in our everyday life, like spending more time with our spouses, kids and friends.

Now, this case is an exception as I enjoy writing trying to entertain myself and others, to get all those thoughts written down and organized into something coherent. To engage in writing about big politics conspiracies, to produce some ludicrous or enticing fiction, yes, why could or should I not do that when so many are doing it, for money, to keep others in suspense in front of their television sets or reading in front of their device screens.

The FBI and CIA conspiracies are popular, books, movies and television series produced by the host nation itself are numerous, often depicting the mentioned agencies as all seeing and evil and there is probably plenty of real life deeds behind as in the saying, no smoke without a fire.

The situation in the Middle East comprising many nations and in particular the hot spots, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria has come out of a vacuum created when the US forces started scaling down to become a furnace full of insurgency and violence something we like to call a hot-bed of terrorism. The US (read Obama) became hesitant to loose more soldiers on the ground to all kinds of terrorist acts, car bombs, suicide bombers but primarily IED:s and turned over to military advisers, air strikes and taking out insurgent leaders by drone strikes. Now, I believe the war has been taken to covert grounds so many times tried before where nothing seemed to work, the dirty works of the CIA, sort of a Chinese triad with thousands of US people involved all over the world, the embassies, the ambassadors, the adjacent CIA offices with it's autonomous administration, agents ready to manipulate and operatives ready to kill whatever the there's on the kill list they are passed from their superiors. The covert war is cheaper as the idea is to have others to do most of the dirty work for you while succeeding in upholding a world power status without having massive lost of own life's on the ground.

So what is the "Homeland" conspiracy trying to do with us all? I myself have been uneasy following the series, frustrated seeing one bipolar sociopath that is Carrie Mathison and a psychopathic CIA assassin-killer, Peter Quinn getting away murdering hordes of non North Americans but with that sentiment turning into empathy for the two when they are to be discarded or terminated by their own employer, the CIA. I feel manipulated myself knowing what they did to the world before they became victims themselves.

Getting into the real time details of this television flick we just had the news or faith of flight 9268 from the Egyptian super resort on the Red Sea bound for St Petersburg loaded with Russian tourists homeward after pleasure vacations presented to us. A bomb on board is by intelligence agencies of the west said to be at 99,9% probability the reason for it's dramatic fall-down from the skies over the Sinai desert. ISIS took claim of the downing of the plane almost immediately and it seem as an act of vengeance as the Russian for at least 2 months has bombarded insurgents heavily over Syria, even the ISIS. But why would ISIS do something like this, a strategic mistake, an act leading to suicide just from knowing the nature of the Russian? It is not logical at all, Arabs or Muslims are not stupid knowing how oriental or western minds work, why would they commit such a stupid act?

Back to "Homeland" again we learn from season 5, episode 4/5 that someone at the CIA planted a bomb on the Syrian general Youssef's plane back to Syria, returning home after the operation of his daughter at a hospital in Switzerland, all on-board killed while some CIA operatives are watching the plane disintegrate from below on the tarmac. In the plot and prior to the explosion, the high ranking CIA official Saul Berenson tries to convince general Youssef to plot against Bashar al Assad providing him 10 million dollars to persuade others in the Syrian ruling class to follow.

What about the "Kippah" people, the Jews, the Zionists in Israel? Who knows. What we know is that they are extremely competent in manipulation of the world, in staying sealed off from the it's violent surroundings. The information about the possible faith of flight 9268  is said to come from the Israeli intelligence passed on to the US and British intelligence agencies. The Israelis are fine with keeping Bashar al Assad in power as they know and as we know that whatever alternative would mean deepening terror and deepening hardships for the Israeli nation, just contemplating Iran and Hezbollah at it's borders with the fall of the Syrian regime or ISIS the Jordanian and Saudi Arabian backed alternative.

Who planted the bomb on Russian flight 9268? The US would benefit from their stance of not having to engage loosing ground troops in Iraq and Syria, saving dollars from bombing less over the territories of Iraq and Syria, not having to be seen as the bad guy anymore giving it all to the "barbaric", Putin and his Russia. What about Israel and it's die hard leader Netanyahu? Well, provoking Putin to vengeance to and eradicate the Sunni resistance to Bashar al Asassad would be worth a try, wouldn't it?

Who did this will remain a mystery, we may never know but whoever that committed this atrocious crime it will become written into the crust of this planet, an act against the creation and God itself.

I do not believe that the CIA and it's superior the US State department cares for human life's unless they are from the continental US itself, the promised land, the land of true patriots and war heroes. Would a civilized nation committ atrocities and war crimes? Many people remember Chuck Yeager, the pilot that broke the sound barrier later setting numerous records as a test pilot. During world war II he and his pilot mates received orders from the Eight Airforce to strafe "anything that moved" meaning spraying corse machine gun fire over civilians. Refusing to do this would mean court martial, so he did, one of the great heroes of the USA. There are numerous other occasions where a civilized nation committs atrocities, like in the village of Song My, Vietnam, Napalm bombing over areas with civil populations, Agent Orange bombings over vast forestal areas and crops and more. Dirty covert operations are more than fiction.

So, who brought down the plane with the Syrian general Youssef in the fictitious Homeland TV soap and why and who brought down the real flight 9268 with 224 innocent humans October 31st 2015, ISIS, Mossad, CIA, MI6 or the Russian SVR itself and why? The reasoning in fiction and real life points in the same direction.

Marijuana legal in Mexico?

Many now believes that Marijuana is legal in Mexico by the November 4 ruling but what does it say? Possession of certain quantities, up to 5 grams for Marijuana and 0.5 grams for Cocaine has since earlier been decriminalized. The ruling by the supreme court opens for possibilities to possess larger quantities of Marijuana, to grow, to distribute and to sell but for now only to the 4 individuals that brought this case to court have the permission. It may be possible already today for others to grow, distribute and sell but a permission has to be asked for and granted and the supreme court left it to the different kind of judges, state, municipal etc. to decide what stance to take in the matter.

Will this do any good in a global world of "illegal" drugs? In Mexico itself it might take some demeanor's of the street and a perhaps an unnecessary load off the judicial system, giving some citizens relief from some physical or psychological conditions without the risk being criminalized. But will it do anything to the "narco" drug war situation as the situation around the Mexican borders remains the same? All the US states bordering Mexico basically prohibits the consummation, distribution or selling of this drug. Some states like California permits medical Marijuana but not the recreational use like in Washington, Oregon and Colorado. Marijuana production and distribution/smuggling in regards to tons produced is immensely larger than for Cocaine, Heroine, Meth and some other drugs but far from as easy to handle and far from as lucrative. The conclusion is that nothing will change, this will not stop the gang wars, the blood-shed and loss of life's.

Marijuana has been virtually legal in the US since far back and sanctions on those that traffic and sell this particular drug could only be seen as hypocrite. I myself came to the US as young man in 1977 to work as an intern in a Californian communications company and had never taken Marijuana in any form before. Before being introduced to it at any one of those numerous parties thrown I observed colleagues going out to have a joint several times a day during business hours which as the North Americans may say virtually "blew my mind". Once the entire company went to San Jose to see the release of the first episode of Star Wars - "A new hope" with a subsequent all company gathering at one of the employee's beach house, everybody smoked even the managers, this was early June 1977. Wherever I went people did smoke, distribute and sell and just before returning to Sweden from New York after the long finishing journey along the borders of the continental US a guy at a bar handed me Marijuana seeds to bring to Sweden, not even asked for, he just thought that I should bring some with me. I have more stories to tell about this subject from slightly later life, all the same. Several years later after 8 years of life abroad and back home in Sweden working for a multinational company a few years before the 9/11 I had US friends and coworkers assigned to work at the headquarters in Stockholm that smoked Marijuana as if it was tobacco. When asking where it came from, one them replied he carried it from the states in a compartment in his shoe.

No, nothing will change with the coming legislation in Mexico unless Marijuana, Cocaine, Heroine, Meth and more have become legal north of the border in a nation with a severe and widespread drug craving.

Homeland and 3 generations of war zone correspondents

I have written a few articles on an interesting phenomena, Homeland a near life television series about CIA's war against terrorism. After writing the last article, the one about season 5 episode 4 where Russia get's involved to later in real life intervene in Syria, it struck my mind that Homeland seem to convey news about what is happening in the middle east and now in particular about the in's an around's in Syria where the action is, news that of course is strongly colored and censor-shipped.

Reporting from war zones in earlier times was done by journalists, free lance or employed ones sent out by their news corporations and by doing so risking their life's. Reporting was done virtually without side-taking and could be done from either side of a conflict thus delivering news more or less free of bias. War zone reporters could die from exposing themselves to the dangers of the front lines but were for most times respected by the combatants as they knew that their cause could benefit from the reporting shedding objective light over the situation. Some times it went all wrong when reporters were present while atrocities were committed like in the village of Song My, Vietnam. Politicians and military's of aggressor nations have since far back understood how devastating news could be to operations when "shit happens" and have been thinking about how to turn war zone reporting into favoring the own side.

It all came square when the US invaded Iraq in 2003, with the invention of "embedded reporters". Before this, war correspondents were held short of access to war zones like in the 2001 Gulf War or the 2001 Afghanistan invasion. This was how the US managed bad publicity in those days and with a learning lesson from Vietnam, Nicaragua and other places. Now the pressure was from news corporations was building again and to once again manage having war zone reporting still with the news favoring the own side, the "embedded" reporter was invented, the second generation of war zone reporting had become reality. An embedded reporter has to be approved by the State department, was assigned to a particular military unit, under command by it's commander and anything reported had to be scrutinized by a military press spokesperson before being released through the reporters home channels. The obvious consequence here is that news would primarily be fed to a global world through US embedded reporters and anything not approved by military censorship wouldn't ever slip through.

The most severe consequence and a lethal blow to war zone reporting was that war correspondents from the day of this invention and on now is seen by the "other side" as enemy combatants to be kidnapped, killed even publicly decapitated. Since the birth of the "embedded reporter" we have seen a brutal decrease in war zone reporting and we have correspondents being assassinated in increasing numbers, reporters even from my tiny Sweden have been shot down on streets in war torn countries. With Syria war zone reporting ceased to exist as all war correspondents of the world knows that they are seen as enemy combatants, to be kidnapped or killed.

Now comes the interesting part, third generation of war zone reporting. How would that be done when reporters of the world refuse to enter from the very real fear of loosing their life's? The world apart from war zones is hungering to know about what is going on in and around the zones of conflicts and in particular anything related to the blood thirsty radical Muslim movement of ISIS. Reporting from Palestine is boring, sad and depressing but useless as the whole situation around Gaza, the West-bank and Jerusalem is controlled by Israel's iron-grip. Who wants to see, to know about something that has been going on for decades with no hope for improvement. Regarding Syria, it is different as anything there is up for grabs, from the USA, from Russia, from Iran, from Hezbollah, from ISIS and that incoherent multitude of insurgent groups, more or less but even more interesting than the Iraq and Afghanistan that already are over the top.

I come to believe that the third generation of war zone reporting and just because of the void regarding war news is turning into reality soaps like Homeland. It is perfect for everybody, a story told once a week that won't bother us on daily basis, it is perfect for the nation of origin as censorship could be applied grooming the whole situation reported in favor of the "Homeland", perfect for screen-writers as they are being fed with scrumptious details from "situation rooms", from the CIA press people, from State department appointed politicians.

As the war in Syria seem to be a "proxy war", that is someone fighting for some else, i.e. ISIS for Saudi Arabia and it's "Whhabistic" cause, Hezbollah for Iran, Iran for getting closer to Israel, some insurgent groups for al Qaeda, others for the USA, I would suggest calling the "Homeland" style reporting for Proxy War Zone Reporting.

War zone reporting today has become nothing but a Hollywood reality soap. Created by a genius from the domains of media, film or writing or ... one of those "Tinkering Tanks", the NGO's.

Very intriguing, don't you think or perhaps just another manifestation of the authors vivid imagination for conspiracy? At the end of the day I must say that I love Homeland, perhaps the #1 television series running at present. It is as exciting as the Syrian conflict itself.

Some audiences love to watch Homeland

And as much some love watching Homeland, me included I am enticed to write about it as it will score me some more views, much more than all that empathetic crap I am producing. What is that that makes my eyes go wide open at season 5 episode 4? It is of course the US agencies wish and objective to get rid of Bashar al Assad but there is something else even more intriguing, it is when a hacker's associate, greedy for making money contacts the Russians associated with the Russian embassy in Berlin. The hacker himself is pining for peace trying to pass CIA documents to a reporter to make the world aware about CIA's intents to destabilize the Middle East and as a consequence also Europe making an attempt to pass the hacked documents but finding them erased on the copy he passed over to the reporter. He is still unknown to the world and of intelligence agencies, but his greedy associate is terminated by the Russians together with his girlfriend, now with the Russians in possession of an intricate batch of CIA communications. Let us assume that those documents opened up a treasure chest of US intentions and intelligence with Syria.

At the time of this writing it is only a few months ago since Russia intervened in Syria backing up the government of Bashar al Assad. Homeland season 5, episode 4 is almost concurrent with the Russian intervention so I am asking myself, what the hell is going on here? Is it so that the Russians went in because a leak of CIA information? Not all of you know but some do that Russia is a long-time allied with Syria. Some knows that Syria was the place where Carlos, the Jackal hid until the end of the cold war when the borders of the USSR crumbled and that Russia could not protect him anymore, going to Tunisia. Carlos spent some time in Russia over many years to change his physical appearance by plastic surgery and in particular his vision as he was severely near eye sighted, the Russians were the champions in the world in fixing eyes, vision in those days unprecedented by any nation in the world including the US. Well. what I am is saying is that Russia had bases in Syria, an important station for their naval operations globally and in particular the Mediterranean sea, the only one entry point for the Russian naval forces to central Europe. If you did not already know about this, this is the explanation why the US has been so cautious about Syria and the governance of Bashar al Assad. The US has kept itself from assassination attempts or from directly attacking the leaders of Syria from a standpoint of an extremely delicate situation confronting Russia, face to face. Shit talking Bashar al Assad has been policy so far but whether they succeed is unclear. Bashar al Assad is held high by a lot of Syrians, by a lot of exiles all over the world. Bashar al Assad is only a person like me and you, a doctor studying to become a ophthalmologist surgeon in England when faith changed his life.

What concerns me is why would the US administration seeking to displace an Alawite governance that would be replaced by a Shia muslim governance with Iranian and Hezbollah ties when this would threaten Israel more than what the Sunni states of the Arabian peninsula would do. Is this the worst kind of stupidity that mankind has seen in modern times? The first step was taken raping Iraq putting an Iran controlled Shia government in its place. Is this phase 2 in eradicating Israel. The Israelis themselves prefer an Alawite government before a direct Iranian controlled Shia government and it seem a logical conclusion from a state residing in the eye of the evil.

My question is: what is the rationale for the US throwing the entire world into another disastrous global war? Does the US think it has the means to control this over the distance of an ocean? Does the US seriously believe this are means to get back into control over the world and the world economy?

What think tank lunatics made you, the US senate and congress think this is your best shot at world control? How did you get the Russians into the picture with such a timing? Vision, creativity or plain connections with the ones managing it all?
